Classical Piano Workshop

What you will learn:

  • Sight-reading: You will learn why it's important to recognise the piano keys and the notes on the treble and bass clefs fast and also how to increase your speed at recognising them. You will learn the twenty-two most popular notes found in the Treble and bass clef and learn how to increase your note recognition through speed tests. You will also learn the four most popular rhythms that appear in basic to advanced music and how to practice them. You will learn how to practice and prepare for your sight-reading exam. After the workshop you will also receive four speed recognition video links to continue your training.

  • Practice: You will learn how to practice pieces efficiently so that you can learn to play the music easier and in less time. You will learn mistakes that all students are making right now when practising and how to avoid them. You will learn how to practice all major and minor scales / arpeggios and broken chords so that you cover all of them every week in less time. You will learn why the saying "Practice makes perfect" is not true.

  • Technique: You will learn why it's important to practice your technique ,why scales are important to practice as well as four simple techniques to train each finger (this is not learnt in the piano grades!) and also how to use the metronome to increase your speed in scales to grade 8 (ABRSM) level in 10-15 minutes not years of practice.

  • Aural: You will learn about articulation and phrasing to an advanced level using only four examples.
